Back home again…!

Rocky Mountains

Hi everyone!

I’m back in Indiana after an AMAZING week spent shooting a film at the Rocky Mountain Christian Filmmakers Camp (www.christianfilmmakerscamp.com) in Norwood, Colorado! Colorado is beautiful, and officially the farthest West I have ever traveled in the continental United States. I think I need to start keeping track with pins on a map of where all I have traveled for acting; God is so faithful and good! 😀

I was at the camp as an acting student (there were 8 of us), and received instruction from the marvelous Rich Swingle (www.richdrama.com), who has previously directed me twice at the MasterWorks Festival (www.masterworksfestival.org) for their productions of 12 Angry Jurors and Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, as well as leading the Engage Sochi drama team I was on that traveled all the way to Sochi, Russia to perform street theatre at the Winter Olympics! It was SUCH a pleasure to finally have the opportunity to work with Rich on a film project; our characters even had a scene together!

Rich and Me

The wonderful Rich Swingle!

The short film we shot is called Felicia’s Pledge, and it is actually a sequel to the feature-length film In His Steps (http://www.inhisstepsmovie.com). I was incredibly grateful and excited to be entrusted with the role of Felicia, who is the cousin of Rachel Winslow, one of the main characters of In His Steps. I really related to Felicia’s character, and I can’t wait to share the finished film with everyone once the post-production work is complete!

One of the things I loved about this camp was the focus on educating the the acting and film-making students. We were expected to be professional in attitude and work ethic, but weren’t expected to know everything. Another aspect I really appreciated was the varying ages of the actors present, anywhere from 15 years old, to 50+. Finally, I truly enjoyed the uplifting atmosphere and focus on Christian principles I experienced while at camp; I left feeling energized to search out new film opportunities (and maybe even create a few myself!). I would HIGHLY recommend the Rocky Mountain Christian Filmmakers Camp to ANYONE, and I hope I can go again next year!

Further up and further in!

Blessings,

Rachel
