About Me

Rachel Marley - Actress

Hello!

My name is Rachel, and I’m a professional actress, director, and theatre arts teacher. I have found that I truly enjoy writing too! I was born and raised in Indiana, but I absolutely LOVE travelling across the country (and the world!) telling stories through performance, whether on stage, camera, or even in the streets!

My favorite type of stories are the ones that leave you feeling hopeful, inspired, and optimistic about the future, even if you (or the character) have been through terrible or tragic circumstances. I believe these type of stories have the power to change people, and therefore society as we know it! Pretty cool, huh? šŸ˜‰

I also believe that we were created to create, and to be in community. If I, as an actress/director/teacher, can inspire others to be more creative and also help them feel more connected to, or understanding towards their friends, family and community, then I would say I am blessed indeed!

Acting and directing are about making choices, and I like to ask myself, “What is the truthful choice here?” Some of my favorite acting theories are those by Michael Chekhov, Augusto Boal’s Theatre of Oppression, and Jacob Moreno’s Sociodrama (first introduced to me by my mentor, professional actor/writer/director Rich Swingle). I utilize some of these acting techniques and exercises on set, in rehearsals, and also in my classes. They have made a world of difference in all areas of my craft.

Thanks for stopping by!

Blessings,

Rachel
